What is Qard al-Hasan?
Qard al-Hasan, also known as the “beneficent loan”, is a unique form of interest-free lending in Islamic finance. Rooted in compassion and social responsibility, it provides financial assistance to those in need — with no expectation of profit or return.
Qard al-Hasan in the Quran
مَّن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يُقْرِضُ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًۭا فَيُضَـٰعِفَهُۥ لَهُۥٓ أَضْعَافًۭا كَثِيرَةًۭ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَقْبِضُ وَيَبْصُۜطُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
(سورة البقرة — ٢٤٥)
“Who will lend to Allah a generous loan so that He may multiply it to him many times over? And Allah straitens and enlarges (the man’s sustenance according to the Divine Law), and to Him you shall be returned.”
(al Baqarah 245)

- For general public via the Zakat Charitable Foundation introduction
- For students and teachers of RII via the Russian Islamic Institute introduction
